Krista is our Louisville Content Creator, and if her magenta hair doesn't tip you off, she is definitely an original. When you're around her, you definitely get the sense that she is content marching to the beat of her own drum. Read on to see why her mom has had such an impact on her and which fictional character she is most like!
Q: What is your favorite thing about Louisville?
It’s home. Louisville is the only city I’ve ever lived in and it’s everything that I’ve known for my 23 years of living. There is so much culture and diversity in this city with a slight southern flair and all 4 seasons (which can be unpredictable). It’s not too busy and never too slow, with something to do literally every weekend. Louisville is a big small city and I love it.
Q: How did you develop an interest in digital marketing?
I have always been obsessed with Instagram and YouTube, but when I started following beauty gurus and influencers and learned that they were the new voices of brands, I saw that the world of marketing was turning a new leaf; and it’s the coolest thing ever. In college I took a course in social media and discovered that digital marketing was more strategic than getting on Facebook and posting any old thing, and it was a world that I wanted to be a part of.
Q: What is one easy way women can support other women in the business world?
Following them on their social platforms and staying up to date on what they are doing with their business! #GirlBosses need to stick together!
Q: Tupac or Biggie?
Biggie Biggie Biggie can’t you see sometimes your words just hypnotize me?
Q: Ice cream or froyo?
FROYO, there was a point in time when froyo was all the rage and I was eating it every other day… those were the days!
Q: What is one brand you really admire and why?
I really admire companies like Lush that are not only doing something good for the environment but also doing good for the body and soul. A good bath bomb paired with a bath melt can do wonders for stress in our fast paced world.
Q: What is your favorite social media platform and why?
Instagram! I love taking and editing photos with my own personal flair, so Instagram has always been one of my favorites. Plus, I am a visual person, so being able to see an aesthetically pleasing and cohesive page is EXTREMELY satisfying to me.
Q: Sushi or pizza?
Man oh man… I would have to choose sushi because it is one of the only foods that I crave on a weekly basis.
Q: Are you more likely to patronize a business with a digital presence, and why?
Yes, because I feel like there is more of a personal aspect through digital platforms. I like seeing people using products because I can relate more. It’s like a more relaxed version of a testimony.
Q: Who inspires you and why?
My mom, she is a refugee from Cambodia and she came to the United States with little to nothing but has always done her best to give me the best life possible. She has done so much for me from supporting me financially and emotionally to teaching me that there is more to life than material things. Excuse how cliché I’m being, but my mom has really helped to mold me into the woman that I am today.
Q: What fictional character are you most like?
Tina Belcher from Bobs Burgers, “I am a smart, strong, sensual woman.”
Q: What song is the soundtrack to your life?
“How Far I’ll Go” from Moana.
Q: Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Night Owl for sure; I can’t get up to save my life.
Q: What is your "go-to" when you need to get shit done?
My Beats and a good playlist!
Q: What's your favorite book for an aspiring girl boss?
